Existence of Karma
We exist as a fusion of Spirit and Soul (body). The impermanence of our body creates a natural tendency to cling to the physical world, fostering attachments that provide a fleeting and ultimately false sense of security and comfort. It is delusional to continue building our lives on this misguided path not knowing where it leads or expecting a different outcome. Without realising the Truth, our Spirit will remain trapped, endlessly caught in the cycle of birth and rebirth.
Understanding our Spirit offers insights into our mortal existence. As an indestructible and eternal energy source, our Spirit represents the divine aspect of our being, where wisdom and conscience lie dormant. When these qualities eventually unfold, they provide a new perspective on life and guide us toward enlightenment. Simply knowing that our Spirit exists is liberating. It is the Truth. But how do we recognise the existence of our Spirit? The answer lies in our Karma.
Karma results from the actions or inactions of our Spirit, driven by the sensations, feelings, and emotions our Spirit carries into this life. When we understand our Karma, we gain clarity about the mechanisms that shape our decisions and expressions. We can also uncover how our loved ones were connected to us in past lives and understand the nature of those relationships now. This awareness allows us to address the root causes of our challenges in this life, enabling us to resolve underlying Karmic issues with others or within ourselves. The Divine reveals only what needs to be known—the inadequacies, desires, and habits rooted in our past lives—so we can become aware of the tendencies we must overcome to advance spiritually.
Karma exists through our Spirit and is a product of ignorance. Many of us are unaware of our Spirit’s existence and, consequently, of our Karma. This ignorance is a fundamental obstacle to enlightenment. Knowing our Karma is taking the first step toward dissolving ignorance and beginning the reconciliation with ourselves. Only then can we overcome the insecurities of our soul and body, resist letting our feelings and emotions dictate our actions (or inactions), and ultimately break free from the cycle of birth and rebirth. The purpose of understanding Karma is not to make us feel helpless but to open our minds, awaken our wisdom and awareness, and lead us to forsake the temporary by seeing through the transient, and ultimately, embrace the Truth.
